I offer therapeutic astrology with body-based therapies as a unique adjunct. I also provide virtual astrology consultations via Zoom, and baby chart interpretation for parents. My training includes extensive and ongoing study under master Vedic astrologer Komilla Sutton.
What is Vedic Astrology?
Vedic astrology, or Jyotish, is part of India’s ancient system of Vedic philosophy. Developed with an extensive understanding of astronomy, Vedic astrology is based in the belief that our life’s purpose is directly tied to the positions of the planets at the time of our birth. Analyzing these positions leads to greater self-understanding and an awareness of our place in the world.
In Sanskrit, Jyotish means “The Science of Light,” and the focus of Vedic astrology isn’t about predictions. Instead, it provides perspective about timing in our lives and our karmic inheritance. Karma is considered part of an ongoing process, rather than a fixed fate. When you learn to work with your karma, you’re able to address challenges, gain clarity and support your own evolution within this lifetime.
The Role of Your Birth Chart
According to the Vedic system, the planets in your birth chart reveal the map of your life, including your inherent strengths and challenges. Interpreting your birth chart is the starting point for understanding those challenges so you can address them.
The Vedic Astrology Calendar
While the system has 12 signs like the Western system, Vedic astrology is based on the sidereal zodiac, which calculates planetary positions more accurately than the fixed zodiac used in Western astrology. You may be surprised to discover your Vedic astrological Sun sign is different from your Western sign. Because the solar system isn’t fixed, date ranges change slightly over time. The following information reflects the current date ranges for the Vedic astrological Sun signs.
Aries: Mesha (April 13–May 14)
Taurus: Vrishaba (May 15–June 14)
Gemini: Mithuna (June 15–July 14)
Cancer: Karkata (July 15–August 14)
Leo: Simha (August 15–September 15)
Virgo: Kanya (September 16–October 15)
Libra: Tula (October 16–November 14)
Scorpio: Vrishchika (November 15–December 14)
Sagittarius: Dhanus (December 15–January 13)
Capricorn: Makara (January 14–February 11)
Aquarius: Kumbha (February 12–March 12)
Pisces: Meena (March 13–April 12)
I begin with a close reading of your birth chart and an explanation of the challenges you’ll likely encounter in this lifetime. This knowledge is helpful in understanding why some things may feel easy to you, while others present difficulties. Understanding the patterns of influence planets have on your life can also help you look ahead based on what’s happened in your past. The process can provide guidance around timing for important periods of transition. It can help you address relationships, career choices, finances and other important life events.
Therapeutic astrology can often feel like counseling. Our goal together is to help you create strategies for addressing life’s challenges and for using your strengths to your greatest advantage.
The birth chart provides information about your health and wellness, including illness or disease. Assessing your chart for these signs allows us to address symptoms and take preventive measures against future illness. I provide guidance for healing and offer further support through herbs, nutrition, spirit bathing, yoga and meditation malas.
Baby Chart Interpretation:
Baby chart interpretation is common in India and other parts of the world where astrology is an integrated part of the culture. Baby chart interpretation can help you nurture the person your child came here to be. Understanding the complexities in your child’s chart can help you supportively parent your child to overcome challenges, allowing them to be the fullest expression of themselves.
Support your Mind, Body and Soul
Physical and spiritual practices can serve as tools and remedies to help you thrive and move through life with greater ease. Whether virtual or in-person, astrology consultations include guided meditation or yoga to help you integrate the information you’ve received and calm your nervous system. If your session takes place in person, we’ll combine your one-hour reading with 30 minutes of subtle energetic bodywork, such as craniosacral therapy, spirit bathing or Jin Shin Jyutsu.
I also offer handmade malas customized to your individual birth chart, as well as individually formulated herbal compounds to support your physical health.
How It Works
I offer virtual astrology sessions via Zoom, and in-person sessions at my studio in East Austin.
Duration: 1.5 hours
Therapeutic and medical sessions include a one-hour chart consultation followed by 30 minutes of guided meditation, yoga or bodywork. Baby chart interpretations may be discussion-based only or include an infant craniosacral session. To get started, you’ll need to provide the exact date, time and place of birth.
While a single session provides you with foundational knowledge, multiple sessions yield greater understanding. Monthly sessions are recommended, and most clients find greatest benefit in a minimum of three to six sessions.
