I also provide therapeutic astrology with body-based therapies as a unique adjunct in my office in Collingswood, New Jersey. What is Vedic Astrology?
Vedic astrology, or Jyotish, is part of India’s ancient system of Vedic philosophy. Developed with an extensive understanding of astronomy, Vedic astrology is based in the understanding that our life’s purpose is directly tied to the positions of the planets at the time of our birth. Analyzing these positions leads to greater self-understanding and an awareness of our place in the world.
In Sanskrit, Jyotish means “The Science of Light,”. Jyotish provides perspective about timing in our lives and our karmic inheritance. Karma is considered part of an ongoing process, rather than a fixed fate. When you learn to work with your karma, you’re able to address challenges, gain clarity and support your own evolution within this lifetime.
The Role of Your Birth Chart
Planets in your birth chart reveal the map of your life, including your inherent strengths and challenges. Interpreting your birth chart is the starting point for understanding those challenges so you can address them. Importantly, Vedic astrology looks at time not only through the placement of the planets daily, but also through what are known as dashas, or time periods of your life which are calculated from the exact location of the Moon when you were born. Also unique to Vedic astrology, the study of the Moon dominates over the study of the Sun for many interesting reasons, which we can discuss during your chart analysis.
Vedic astrology predates Western astrology by 1000's of years. Before the common zodiac, the sky was sectioned into 27/28 areas, each with its own symbols and meanings, and each one being the area the moon covers in a day. Adding this dimension to analysis of common zodiac which is Sun based creates a rich wisdom, describing human nature with great nuance.
Vedic astrology is based on the sidereal zodiac, which calculates planetary positions more accurately than the fixed zodiac used in Western astrology. You may be surprised to discover your Vedic astrological Sun sign is different from your Western sign. Because the solar system is changing, date ranges calculate slightly differently over time. The following information reflects the current date ranges for the Vedic astrological Sun signs.

My Services
Therapeutic Astrology:
I begin with a close reading of your birth chart and an explanation of the challenges you’ll likely encounter in this lifetime. This knowledge is helpful in understanding why some things may feel easy to you, while others present difficulties. Understanding the patterns of influence planets have on your life can also help you look ahead based on what’s happened in your past. The process can provide guidance around timing for important periods of transition. It can help you address relationships, career choices, finances and other important life events.
Therapeutic astrology can often feel like counseling. Our goal together is to help you create strategies for addressing life’s challenges and for using your strengths to your greatest advantage.
Baby Chart Interpretation:
Baby chart interpretation is common in India and other parts of the world where astrology is an integrated part of the culture. Baby chart interpretation can help you nurture the person your child came here to be. Understanding the complexities in your child’s chart can help you supportively parent your child to overcome challenges, allowing them to be the fullest expression of themselves.
